is that even a properly formed sentence? I don't know however I do know that I understand it completely and what it means to me.
These past few months I have been knee deep in photography course, books, websites, printouts and blogs! Trying to gain as much knowledge as possible in how to make my images look their best. I problem I always found I had was the eyes, I wanted eyes to pop without having to do a lot of work in Photoshop. I mean everyone adds pop to their portraits to make them look there best but i wanted to catch the light in the eyes so much so that when you look close you can see reelections in their pupils!
Practice, practice, practice...the kids are probably tired of the camera being in their face which is why in the following examples you will not see one smile haha.
First though some good resources I found worth a read and explained simply how to do this...

and lastly, I have been reading understanding exposure 3rd edition. This helped alot!
so heres my examples good and bad..
this is my edited version with very little work in photo shop, love that her eyes stand out so much
if you look you can see the brightness of her eyes, I took this with light in front of the subject with diffused window light.
this was taken in cloudy conditions with little light at all. I moved him around until i could see the catch lights in his eyes and snapped away. I love that if you look into his eyes you can see me stood there taking his picture. I used paint the moon perfect portrait to brighten up the eyes and to sharpen the image a little
as you can see you can still see how bright the eyes are and you can still see me in his pupil. Finding good light allowed me to reduced shoadows on his skin, keep his eyes nice and bright and then edit this in 1 minute to get the above reult.
And last but not least
taken in the golden hour with side light and brick wall behind her. Once again ran perfect portrait, to eliminate redness, sharpen and brighten the eyes.
obviously this image was cropped to enhance the area I wanted to capture . Edited with coffee house powder room, paint the moon portrait and florabella luxe II
So this week, I am continuing my path of fully understanding exposure, working in manual, and also trying out spot metering..what are you doing?
Hugs and stuff
